The first question you have to ask yourself is, do I have a passion for fitness, helping other people? Do I want to be a part of a community that celebrates every day, that I can dive in and be a part of the energy, really make differences in people's lives? At the end of the day, we are here to make people feel better. This is a relationship business, and building those relationships where people come for community, but it feels like family, so they feel like they belong here and they want to be here, right? It's their second home.

I think when you can encompass that and have that feeling inside the studio, it's hard to fail. I think one piece of advice that I would give to a new franchisee owner would be to hire a phenomenal team. Hire a go-getter that will really set you up with some momentum during that pre-sale and for membership growth. Hire a team of coaches that have personality but also that knowledge, and then hire a team that has complementary but unique strengths to your own.

And then, location is obviously of paramount importance. We had the help of Self Esteem Brands in finding the location, but we have a location that touches five excellent neighborhoods, and that has definitely helped us with our membership growth.

I listen to my gut; that's who I am as a person. And from the minute I heard that this was an opportunity, and after taking my first Basecamp class, there was no turning back. And if you have that, like, you can't ignore that feeling. So, advice I'd give to a newbie thinking about opening a Basecamp? Just do it.

I never considered opening a business. I've never wanted to open a business, let alone a fitness studio. But the more that I learned about the franchising side and that there would be people walking alongside me in the journey of opening a business, I felt really empowered to pursue one on my own.

Being a part of a franchise system, there's a framework to work within. There are resources and assets to empower you and to answer those questions that you don't know. Go for it, like take that leap, take that jump, trust the process. You have to trust the process.
